The Speakeasy located in the lower level of Betty’s Lunch was the favorite gathering place for the Gentleman of Saukville to play a German card game called “skat”. The endless card games and tournaments were run by Al Lubahn. The games occurred in the evenings and weekends between the 1930’ and the 1940’s. During these years only men were allowed in the Speakeasy.
